Applying for: Will Scarlett - Robin Hood BBC

Character Information
Name: Will Scarlett
Nickname/aliases: Will
Canon: Robin Hood BBC
Canon Type?: TV show
Character's journal: http://willscarlett.dreamwidth.org/
Brief history of your character (100-200 word minimum): Will Scarlett is a villager from Locksley near the town of Nottingham in England anno 1192. He learned the trade of a carpenter from his father Dan. He has a younger brother, Luke.

The Lord of Locksley, Robin (later known as Robin Hood) was away in the Holy Land for 5 years. During this time a new sheriff, Vaizey, reigned in Nottingham and his associate Guy of Gisborne kept the village of Locksley. The peasants suffered under this reign and people were starving. Will's mother died in the course of this. His father was mutilated as a punishment for stealing food when he claimed himself responsible for a deed that had actually been Will's.

Just about the time when Robin of Locksley returned from war, Will and his brother Luke were caught stealing flour and were imprisoned in Nottingham. Robin tried to convince the sheriff to free them, but instead the sheriff condemned them all to hang. Robin finally saved them from hanging, making himself an outlaw. Will's father and his brother left the shire, while Will joined Robin's new outlaw gang. The gang fought against the sheriff, often stealing tax money and helping the villagers with money and food. One member that later joined the gang was a Saracen woman called Djaq who became close friends with Will.

Between season 1 and season 2 Will built a proper hidden camp for the gang. He also showed himself useful as a carpenter in other situations. Later in season 2 Will's father and brother returned to Nottinghamshire, but Dan was soon after killed on order of the sheriff. Will snaped and tried to kill the sheriff, but was stopped by Robin and the gang.

Later the outlaws discovered that Will's friend Allan betrayed the gang to Guy of Gisborne. He was banished from the gang and only reunited with the outlaws at the end of the season, when the gang was trapped in a barn by mercenaries. Due to the dire situation Will and Djaq confessed their love for each other and have been a couple from this point on.

As the sheriff travelled to the Holy Land to kill the king (who was still there at crusade), the outlaws followed him there. The sheriff's lackeys managed to convince the king that the outlaws had come to kill him and the gang was left to die in the desert. After being saved they managed to save the king from being killed, but Robin's fiancee Marian was murdered by Guy of Gisborne. Djaq decided to not return to England with the gang and Will stayed with her, while Robin and the rest of the outlaws went back to England. This was the last appearance of Will on the show.

Brief synopsis of your character's personality (100 word minimum):

Will seems to be a rather quiet type of person. He was raised as a simple villager and never expected to do anything else than live in Locksley and be a carpenter. The small rebellion of stealing food to feed his family nearly got him killed, and hate for the sheriff and Gisborne, who were ultimately responsible for his mother's death - and later his father's too - drives him to fight alongside with the gang. He isn't a leader in the gang, looking up to Robin instead. He likes to use his carpentry skills to be useful for the gang and spends a lot of time on it. He is loyal to the gang (yet was once nearly convinced by Allan to leave them behind), and angry when they discover Allan's betrayal. He falls in love with Djaq, yet it is only when they all believe to be about to be killed and she confesses his love for him that he does so, too. His staying with her in the Holy Land is a huge step for him - a peasant from a small village in England who never saw much outside of his home.

Entrance Post

When Will woke up, the first thing he thought was that the heat of the desert must have gotten to him. He had heard before of men losing their mind to the desert. He'd made the trip out of Acre earlier that day and the sun had burned down on him like on so many days before, but then he had returned to the city, had come back to the cool shadows of Bassam's house.

So why was he believing to be here in this forest, a place that was so clearly not Djaq's native land where he had been living for several months now? Was he back in England? He could almost believe it, looking at the trees around him. Still, why would this be the case? Was he dreaming? Maybe this was true. It was the most likely explanation. He had dreamt of his home before, his former home, of Locksley, of Sherwood Forest, of the outlaws' camp there, of a different life really, that he had left behind to stay here with Djaq. No, not here. There. Here was different.

Will got to his feet, only now noticing the envelope that was lying on the ground, next to his left foot. He picked it up, eagerly looking at the writing on it. It was his name, this he could recognize easily, Djaq's teachings having been fruitful there. He opened the envelope, finding a key and a map, but nothing else, inside. The key had a number on it and the map was labelled with the same number pointing vaguely at a location. So this was probably supposed to be the key to get in there, whatever there was. Will figured it couldn't hurt to go there. Maybe some of his questions would be answered. One thing was certain though: he had to be careful, for he could not know that this was not some elaborate game of enemies he had believed to have left behind in the past.
